PIEDMONT WINE PACK
This three-bottle gift pack is the ideal way to discover the emblematic grape varieties of the Piedmont wine region. Famous for its Barolo wines, the Piedmont region has a rich and ancient wine-making history dating back to the Roman Empire. The various civilisations that have occupied this territory have forged the reputation of the wines, some of which have been produced here for centuries. Today, Piedmont wines are undoubtedly among the most sought-after in Italy and the world.
With this boxed set of Piedmont wines, all produced by the Ascheri estate, you can set off on a voyage of discovery of three grape varieties with varied profiles: Arneis, Barbera and Nebbiolo. Matteo Ascheri, the estate's emblematic figure, is now its proud owner. He has also headed the consortium of Barolo, Barbaresco, Langhe, Alba and Dogliani wines for several years.
A wine journey to the heart of Piedmont
The first bottle in this gift box is an Italian white wine: Langhe Arneis. As the name suggests, the grape variety used to produce this wine is Arneis. This ancient grape variety almost disappeared in the late 1960s before being revived in the mid-1980s. Low in acidity, it produces fresh, fruity wines. Here, the cuvée produced by Ascheri offers a wine with aromas of white peaches and apples. On the palate, the wine is both fresh and thirst-quenching. An ideal appetiser for the aperitif.
The second wine on offer is Langhe Barbera. This grape variety is now one of the most widely planted on the Italian peninsula after Sangiovese. This old grape variety originated in Piedmont, more specifically in the Alba and Asti area, and the first written records mentioning it date back to the 6th century. In this vintage produced by Ascheri, discover the fruity side of Barbera. Vinified and aged entirely in stainless steel vats, the wine evokes fresh red fruit on the nose. On the palate, the wine is supple, with a lovely fresh structure and crisp fruit.
Finish your discovery of Piedmont with Langhe Nebbiolo. The king of Barolo wines, Nebbiolo shows its many facets in this cuvée. While in the Barolo appellation this variety produces rustic wines that need time to open up, here in this Langhe vinified by Ascheri, the wine is fine and elegant. On the nose, notes of red berries. The texture on the palate reveals fine tannins with a delicate fresh structure, providing just the right balance.
