Wine region Lombardy

Vins Espagnols

Located in the centre-north of Italy between Switzerland to the north, Piedmont to the west, Emilia-Romagna to the south and the Veneto to the east, Lombardy is a dynamic and cosmopolitan region, both in terms of the image projected by its capital, Milan, and in the field of viticulture.

Enjoying a favourable climate with hot summers, harsh winters and increased rainfall in spring and autumn, Lombardy largely produces high-quality wines, as evidenced by the famous Franciacorta wines (renowned Italian sparkling wines) and the excellent red wines made from clones of the Nebbiolo variety (known locally as Chiavennasca) grown in the province of Sondrio in Valtellina, in the image of the Sfursats of Valtellina.

As an indicator of the quality of its production, the region of Lombardy currently makes 22 DOC and 5 DOCG wines, with a proportion of DOCG wines which is 59% higher than the national average.
