Castello di Bolgheri, winemaker from Tuscany
Castello di Bolgheri: A Legacy of Excellence in Winemaking
Heritage and Ownership
Since 1984, these vineyards of 50 hectares are part of the property of the Contessa Franca Spalletti Trivelli, mother of the oenologist Federico Zileri, who also made the wines of his father (Poggio a Poppiano).
Prime Location and Quality Control
The vineyards are located near the Castello di Bolgheri and are neighbors with the vineyards of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, San Guido (Sassicaia) and Guado al Tasso. The wines of Castello di Bolgheri are only produced in the best years. Thus, the 2002, 2003 and 2014 vintages were not judged to be of good enough quality and were not produced, in this sense therefore, to strive for excellence.
Award-Winning Wines
Regularly the top wines Varvàra and Castello di Bolgheri are awarded by the bible of Italian wines "Gambero Rosso" and by various international wine guides.
