Cascina del Monastero, winemaker from Piedmont
The Legacy of Cascina del Monastero
Historical Roots in Winemaking
In 1926, Alessio Grasso, a winemaker in Treiso, bought this old property located in the small village of "Annunziata di La Morra" a few kilometres from Alba. In the 18th century, the Cascina del Monastero was a monastery of Benedictine monks. The cellar and the building still date from this time.
Modern Management and Agritourism
Today, the estate is managed by Alessio's grandson, Giuseppe Grasso. Together with his wife Velda, they have developed a charming agritourism in which they welcome their visitors. The wines produced by the Cascina del Monastero draw their generosity and fragrance from the clay and limestone soils of vineyards facing south at an average altitude of 250 metres. Beppe and Velda produce high quality wines such as Barbera Leprie, Langhe Rosso and various Barolo.
