Castello Colle Massari is an ancient 13th century fortress that has been renovated and turned into a winery by the Tipa family. This estate, located in the Montecucco area, now has 120 hectares of vineyards on sandstone and marine gravel, limestone and clay soils. The king grape variety of the region, Sangiovese, represents 80% of the estate's vineyard, completed by Montepulciano, Ciliegiolo and Cabernet. As for the white wine, the Vermentino grape variety represents the major part with 85% completed by 15% of Grechetto. The cellar is on several levels, facilitating work by gravity and the ageing cellar is located underground in the rock.
