Poggio Le Volpi: A Legacy of Quality Winemaking

The Origins of Poggio Le Volpi

It all goes back to the 1920s, just after the end of the First World War. At that time, Manlio Mergè owned and cultivated land planted with vines and olive trees. The transmission of his passion, his know-how and the age-old traditions to his son Armando and then to his grandson Felice, gave birth to the estate 76 years later in 1996. Poggio Le Volpi, which means "the hill of the foxes", now covers about 100 hectares.

A Prime Location in Lazio

Located 20 kilometres south-east of Rome, the estate is in the heart of the Roman countryside in the southern part of the Lazio region. If Armando has transformed the small family estate into a real business, it is thanks to his son Felice; who, after studying oenology and working rigorously and with quality, has allowed the family vineyard to become one of the most interesting in terms of quality and regularity.

Commitment to Tradition and Quality

Felice and his team work with traditional grape varieties of the region such as Malvasia, Trebbiano and Montepulciano. Thanks to the rich and fertile volcanic soils, Poggio Le Volpi produces racy wines with great drinkability.
