Discover our initiations to oenology in the canton of Vaud
"This wine is tannic", "it has a nice length, a chewy taste". You often hear this type of phrase around a meal or an aperitif from someone talking about wine like a professional, and you tell yourself that for you it is "Chinese". Well, join us for our next wine tasting initiations. Our objective, but above all our desire, is to make you discover wine and to make you want to learn. At Alfavin.ch, the course is conceived first of all as a moment of relaxation and conviviality. Through sensory workshops and tasting exercises, fed by exchanges but also more technical information on wine such as vinification, maturation, intrinsic qualities of a grape variety, you will improve your knowledge and your tasting vocabulary. In short, little work and a lot of tasting to become someone who knows how to talk about wine and thus take pleasure in each bottle opened with family or friends.
How does an oenology course work?
In a wine tasting course, we can never repeat it enough, what is essential is the exchange and the desire to share. For a successful course, a few rules must be observed before you even begin your wine tasting session and a suitable place for tasting is the keystone. This "work" space is governed by these few rules:
Natural or brightest possible light.
A room with space between each taster.
A quiet place with no music or other noise.
A place free of odors (cigarettes, food, perfumes, etc..
The analysis of a wine can then begin. The tasting takes place in three distinct phases
distinct phases:
Visual examination: Observation and description of the color and reflections.
Olfactory examination: Analysis of the wine's aromas.
Gustatory examination: Behavior of the wine in the mouth, description of tannins, alcohol and acidity.

Who are our wine courses for?
Our vision of wine is above all that of sharing in all simplicity. What is important to us is that the taster enjoys tasting. At Alfavin.ch, our wine tasting courses are open to everyone, based on the sharing of knowledge and the exchange between the tasters and the instructors. Jean-Daniel and his team share their anecdotes about wine, give advice on food and wine pairing and bring the tasting to life. Wine is above all a story of emotion, it is the fruit of a meeting between nature and human beings. Each person has his or her own history, his or her own gustatory apprenticeship, which is why in wine and in a tasting, there are never any errors, at most, adjustments of vocabulary on one's own sensations. Whether you are a novice, an experienced wine lover or a very experienced wine lover, you are all welcome; what is important is to have the desire to taste, to be open-minded
