An adventure that began in
1991 in Penthaz...
Alfavin.ch was born of a passion cultivated and shared within our family over many years.
Nothing is ever done better than when passion motivates us. Wine is a product of nature, cultivated by passionate people and enjoyed with family, friends or customers.
As you've often discovered, a good bottle is never drunk alone! In a world that is becoming increasingly individualistic, good wine plays an ever greater role as a social bond... When it's good, wine can be a sensory pleasure, an intellectual pleasure and an aesthetic pleasure.
Our producer friends are a source of inspiration and motivation in the development of this online sales site. Over many years, we've developed a special relationship with them based on trust. Wine producers are simple, genuine, passionate and loyal people. Any time spent in their company, on their estate or elsewhere, becomes an unforgettable moment of sharing. Ask them about their own story or that of their de domaine: there's always something to learn about life.
Alfavin.ch was awarded the prize for the best Italian and Spanish wine store in the canton of Vaud almost every year since 2017 by Wine Searcher.
The name "alfavin" embodies our philosophy on wine. Indeed, although the word alfa, a term of Greek origin (it's spelled with either a "ph" or an "f"), by definition evokes the highest quality, for us, these four letters take on a special significance, as they symbolize Love, Loyalty, Family and Friends. That's what wine stands for in our minds and in our attitudes.
We continually strive to provide an incomparable wine experience for our passionate customers, while supporting our passionate producers, delivering impeccable service. We offer all this at a competitive price, but with the convenience of home, office or customer delivery
Through this site, we hope to warmly communicate and fully share our passion with you.
The alfavin.ch team
Welcome to our family!
Jean-Daniel
Jean-Daniel, of Italian and Spanish descent, was born in Lausanne several decades ago. In 1991, when his father opened the Oenothèque de la Treille in Penthaz, he was already handling a bottle of wine like no one else. Nevertheless, he decided to work outside the family business. After a few years in the oil industry, an MBA at IMD and then a few years in finance, he finally decided in 2016 to take over the family business, now alfavin.ch. Jean-Daniel is a graduate of the Changins wine school and loves to share his passion. Working as closely as possible to his values, Jean-Daniel will tell you anecdotes gathered over the years and enriching encounters with passionate winemakers. His favorite white wines are Pistillo (Poderi San Lazarro) and old Nelin (Clos Mogador). As for red wines, Moros (Claudio Quarta) in Puglia, Amarone Ca'Coato (Antolini) in Veneto, Oreno (Sette Ponti) in Tuscany, Clos Mogador (René Barbier) in Priorat and Kurni (Oasi degli Angeli) in Marche.
Olivier
French by birth, he started at alfavin.ch on Labor Day, (you can't make that up...) Olivier is first and foremost an enthusiast and epicurean. He studied and learned about wine in Tain L'Hermitage, France. Thanks to rich experiences with Anne-Sophie Pic at the Beau Rivage Palace, the Palafitte in Neuchâtel and many others, Olivier has developed his knowledge and his desire to share his passion for wine. After 12 years in the hotel and restaurant business, Olivier was looking for a new chapter in his professional life. His encounter with Jean-Daniel, where passion and professionalism are the watchwords, has enabled him to continue exploring the world of wine and share his advice and experiences with you. Her favorite white wines are Greco di Tufo (Claudio Quarta) and Nelin (Clos Mogador). As for red wines: ES Primitivo (Gianfranco Fino) in Puglia, Il Grande Silenzio (Fosso Corno) in Abruzzo and Kurni (Oasi degli Angeli) in Marche.
