A family business
Our meeting with two very different leading wine merchants revealed a surprising commonality: Jean- Daniel Loparco and Romain Escher both left careers in finance to take over the family business. No, nothing at all, no, they have no regrets!
When he left finance, it was important for Jean-Daniel Loparco to re-engage with his values in his daily professional life. So he inscribed them in the new name of the family business: alfavin.ch for Love, Loyalty (especially towards the producers with whom the Loparco family has worked for decades in some cases), Family and Friends. “Because in an increasingly selfish world, when I have a good bottle I first think about who I can share it with,” says Jean-Daniel.
